I'd been writing songs for several years before the band came together. Until that point the song was it's own compass, leading me towards its destination. When the band came together it brought with it a compass all of its own. So I've followed that compass with several songs over the past year or so. Turns out that when I set out to write a song with the intention of it being for the band to perform it actually seems to be way more focussed, structured and shorter than otherwise.
One of the first songs I wrote for the band was The Refrigerator Song. It has a very tight structure and sprints in at under three minutes. Perhaps we're a pop band?
