This latest release from RB3 is a short song from the edgy fringes of our sonic spectrum. Minor chords have been used where minor chords should not be used, joined by a diminished chord and a guitar refrain that borders on atonality (but is actually quite catchy!).
When I wrote this, the words were suggested initially by the way they sounded - with all their hard edges and sharp sibilant syllables - eventually coalescing into a narrative about how a distraction (such as the buzzing sound a fridge makes) can derail all of our best intentions and move our focus away from occupations that would improve us to that which holds us back.
In my mind it ticks all the boxes of what a pop song should be. You can listen to it on the usual streaming platforms, including this spotty one, or on our bandcamp site. Would be interested to hear what you think of it.
Refrigerator comes with comes another track: Buttercup. I'm afraid to say, dear listeners, that I was obliged to put a parental advisory warning with this song due to the inclusion of four expletives. It's a grown up, grubby, messed up love song so the expletives were appropriate for the voice of the song as well as providing a recurring rhythmic anchor. Honestly.
Enjoy
Love
